The White Mountains

The White Mountains just feels like home.

We went for the first time in 2017 and we just fell in love. The natural landscapes are divine, the farm to table culture in the restaurants is a dream and the locally supported businesses was unlike anything we’ve ever seen.

Although it is a protected natural forest, if you look hard enough you can find all the high quality resources one would ever need!

This year, we took a weekend trip and decided to stay at Crawford Notch. Albeit it left us with only one full day of hiking, we couldn’t have been happier with the decision to come back!

Morning, we were up with the sun. The day’s trails were chosen as we waited for our appliances to heat up for morning coffee and breakfast.

Once complete, we packed our gear while waiting for the appliances to cool so we could pack up the site before we left. After all, we didn’t want any local’s crashing our site ;)

Day one: Mt. Willard.

With over 900 ft. of gain over this 3.1 out-n-back trail, our vote.. the climb is worth it!

The trail is well marked, a great day hike that includes cascading waterfalls, passing brooks, a few obstacle course elements( the stairs) and stunning views.

Get ready for a workout, the trail starts with a stead climb, and about 1/3 of the way in, its time to take the poles out and ascend! Some parts so steep, so steep they built stairs!

Once you reach the top you the the views are worth it! The view overlooks the Presidential range; Mt. Jackson, Mt. Eisenhower, Mt Piece.

Here you can choose to take a break at the overlook before heading back down or continue on to Mt. Field, Mt. Avalon and even Mt. Willey.

At the summit , we met a woman who shared her bird seed with us to feed the Gray Jay’s (a must do!)

Our Favorite Local spot!

After Mt. Willard, we ventured into N. Conway to enjoy a local coffee and late afternoon lunch before heading back to camp for the evening.

A must when in N. Conway!

Day 2: Mt. Willey… or Mt. Field??

Last day in the forest, we decided to pack up camp early and head out for one last hike. This trip was special bc we shared it with friends, so we were prepared to break a rule and re-climb a trail we’ve done in the past, Mt. Willey.

Well, as it goes, good company means good conversation and well, we missed the trail marker! Instead of the easeful summit to enjoy the views of Willey…well, let’s just say we earned our view at the top of Mt Field!

(Mt. Willey vs. Mt Field shown in the first photo above)

All is well though, our friends still love us and we are planning A Hyouman Experience in this magical place.

Can’t wait to share it with you!
